Experience a luxurious stay in what is possibly one of New Zealand's oldest buildings, while visiting historic Kohukohu

Kohukohu Villa is a historically significant home, located in Kohukohu, on the  Northern bank of the beautiful Hokianga Harbour. It was built circa 1840 - 1860 as the office for the Kauri mill  that was adjacent.

It has a lively and varied history including being (supposedly) a billiards room, a reading room, a workingmens' club and even a police station with a jail in the basement!

Originally two simple rooms, it has been extended over the early part of last century with multiple rooms and a conservatory added. Much of it's rustic past has been preserved and exposed to tell the story of this grand old building.

A large section of the current building has been developed for accommodation,
but in keeping with its rustic themed character and past, while the rest is still being painstakingly restored by the current owner/operators.

Kohukohu is on the Northern banks of the beautiful Hokianga Harbour, in the Northland region. Within  easy driving  distance to the East Coast and the Bay of Islands Kohukohu makes a perfect base to explore the winterless North.
